Where to, Lord?

A Bible study on guidance

Using a mix of Bible investigation, group discussion and video input, Where to, Lord? will help you interact with what God is saying about the thorny topic of guidance.

Guidance can be one of the most frustrating issues for Christians.  We know that Jesus has died, and that heaven lies in the future, but still remain unsure about everything in between. We have many questions about guidance, such as:

·        Am I missing out on God's personal guidance?

·        How does God guide his people today?

·        If God speaks, will I hear his voice?

·        How do I know God's will for my life?

Facilitator:  Pastor Michael Mudlaff

Date:  begins on September 8

Place:  room will be determined on the first evening based upon the number of participants.

Six Steps to Reading Your Bible

Instead of regarding the Bible as "more to be desired than gold" and "rejoicing the heart", like David in the Psalms, somehow, for many of us, regularly feeding on God's Word ends up in the same category as regular exercise: a healthy chore we know we should fit in and that we benefit from, but which is hard to manage amongst everything else, and ends up slipping off the agenda. As the Lord Jesus said of his sleepy disciples: "the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak".

Whatever your current Bible reading habits (or lack thereof), and whatever your level of knowledge and confidence, Six Steps to Reading Your Bible will help you make progress in getting into your Bible. The course is especially designed for use in small groups, and utilizes a mix of video instruction, fun skits, Bible study, discussion, practical exercises, prayer and home assignments that will help you on the road to establishing a new and more enjoyable Bible reading habit.

Facilitator:  Pastor Michael Mudlaff

Date:  begins October 20

Place:  class will be located in the room previously occupied by the Where to, Lord? class

Mid-Week Ministry

Beth Moore Women’s Bible Studies

To Live is Christ

Join Beth on a journey into the life and heart of Paul, the Apostle to the Gentiles, who served faithfully and loved heartily. You will discover him to be a man who formed many close friendships with both men and women.

More than any other person, Paul provides us an example of sold-out servanthood.  He understood what it means to die daily, crucified with Jesus Christ.  As a result, Paul shows us how to live fully as a bond servant to Christ.  As you study the Book of Acts and the Letters of Paul, you will come to know the characters personally.  Most of all you will feel the challenge to follow Paul's example just as he followed the example of Christ.

Facilitator:  Sasha Mudlaff

Date, Time and Place: Tuesday afternoons, 12:45-2:45 PM; Children’s Worship Center, beginning September 7.

Living Beyond Yourself

A study of the fruit of The Holy Spirit as presented in the book of Galatians.  Beth walks participants through each trait listed in the fruit and encourages women to know the freedom of a Spirit-filled life. Through this study participants will look at the supernatural aspects of the fruit and that you cannot grow, learn, or produce the fruit on your own. Beth challenges you to develop the fruit by maintaining an intimate relationship with the Spirit of God. A Spirit-filled life truly results in living beyond yourself.

Facilitator:  Mona Yentes

Date, Time and Place: Thursday evenings, 6:45-9:00 PM at the home of Kay Cunitz, beginning September 9.

Faith Lessons

The ancient biblical world contains thousands of lessons that we can draw on to strengthen our Christian faith. Often simply understanding the culture of the time can spread new light on God's plan for our lives.  The Faith Lessons DVD Bible study series tells the stories of the ancient world, and shares why they are still important for us today.  Ray Vander Laan is the founder of That the World May Know Ministries and creator of the Faith Lessons video series with Focus on the Family.

Moderator:  Marilyn Long

Date, Time and Place:  Second Thursday of the month, September – May, 1:00-2:30 PM in the Hospitality Room.
